GraphicConverter App Reviews

Best image editor/viewer for OSX

The search for a more flexible alternative for iPhoto was long and hard, decent viewers for conventionally stored pictures are kind of rare for OSX (PC has IrfanView and ACDsee e.g., Linux has gThumb and Geeqie). I ended up with Graphic Converter, which I already had over ten years ago but now is truly a jewel. It can pretty much do anything regarding image organisation, viewing and editing. One can tell that it grew over the years driven by the needs of customers, and not a designer. Speed is excellent, I personally appreciate the extended (and clever) renaming possibilities, the EXIF manipulation and the fast folder browsing.

Note this version does not auto upgrade

You have to pay extra for upgrades through their Kagi store. There are no automatic upgrades through the App Store.

What about PICT

As long as you use their specific formats, everything is fine. I bought this to convert old PICT files and it won’t do it, with the message, “the file is broken”. I think this application is a lot of hype when I can open it in Preview and then export it as PDF. BLAH

Mature and valuable graphic image app

My Mac is full of Photoshop files, thousands of digital photography JPEGs, Illustrator docs, PDFs, etc, etc. I’ve been searching for years to find a Mac app that could manage this huge collection of images. I’ve kept trying — with great frustration — to use Adobe Bridge CC. Bridge is slow, unresponsive and constantly giving me “cache” related warning messages. I tried GraphicConverter and was won over instantly. It’s chock full of features. And it’s fast. It runs rings around Adobe Bridge. The developer has been super responsive. There was a resizing batch feature that I didn’t quite understand. I sent a message through their website and received a quick reply not only answering my question, but also including a link to a 50 second screencast showing exactly how to do it. That’s service! One other thing. I mistakenly purchased GraphicConverter version 8 without realizing version 9 was also available. I once again emailed Thorsten Lemke, the developer. He immediately sent me a reply showing how I could correct my purchase mistake and obtain the latest version of GraphicConverter. Top notch software. Top notch service. 5-stars all around!

Fantastic App, Great Support. If you work with image files you need this.

I own the full version of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended but GraphicConverter is still very useful. It handles batch jobs for converting or resizing images easier and faster than Photoshop. It handles more file formats than Photoshop. It also has scanning support and if you own Adobe Photoshop Elements you’ll find on the Mac it does not including scanning support so that is another reason to use this app. I also have to say the support is amazing. I did have an issue with my scanner, and I emailed support. In less than 24 hours, on a weekend I got an email back from the developer. He was able to help me solve my issue. Amazing service. Love supporting apps where the developer is that engaged with his customers.

Great Support

I was not able to use the .svg export format due to restrictions by the App Store version of the software (something to do with sandboxing). I e-mailed customer service and within 2 minutes had a response and a solution. Fantastic support and really friendly. This app looks extremely powerful and packed with tremendous capability. Looks like there will not be much sleep tonight.
